Where to Buy Your Outfit for Taipei Pride

Taiwan is regarded as one of the most socially progressive nations in Asia, and its LGBTQ+ rights are no exception. Taipei’s annual Pride parade, held on the last Saturday of October, is the biggest gay event in Asia — last year, it attracted over 120,000 participants from all over the world.

This year’s parade is expected to be even bigger. It’s the perfect opportunity to celebrate love in all forms and show support for both the LGBTQ+ community and for same-sex marriage legalization in Taiwan, which activists continue to fight for in an ongoing battle. The parade also promises to be a blast.

Onto the real question: what to wear. If you’re looking for rainbow-themed clothing and accessories (as you should be), your best bet is around the Red House next to Ximen MRT station. Here’s what to look for:

Shops surrounding Red House

The square behind Red House is an LGBTQ+ paradise, lined with gay bars — including Cafe Dalida, our favourite bar in the city — and shops selling everything from sex toys to rainbow flags.

This store on the corner next to the bars sells rainbow shirts, flags, underwear, and accessories. It’s a good spot to pick up some extra gear before marching.

H&M store in Ximen

Right across the plaza from the Red House is an H&M that has a section dedicated to Pride on the 5th floor. Exit the elevator, turn right, and you’ll see it on the right-hand side.

H&M carries a small selection of shirts, bags, and hats with Pride/rainbow theme that are worth checking out.

Taiwanize Store in Red House

An awesome local clothing brand called Taiwanize has a small outlet on the main floor of the Red House itself. They’re offering limited edition Pride tees that come in red, blue, and black.

Taiwanize’s high-quality shirts are expensive at NT$1600 each, but we loved the local branding with rainbow theme. If you’re a tourist looking for an authentic and stylish Taipei Pride keepsake, this boutique is definitely worth checking out.

Head over to the Red House near Ximen station to get your Pride gear today. And check out our Guide to Gay Taipei to find more information on all of our favorite gay spots around the city!
