Tasty and Affordable Vietnamese Food at Thanh-Ky
We love Vietnamese food for its freshness and flavour — it makes a great, relatively healthy option for weekday meals. While we were very impressed by District One’s cool vibes, creative menu, and delicious food, Thanh-Ky has become a reliable option for tasty Vietnamese at more affordable prices. We first tried it through Uber Eats delivery and continued ordering it on a regular basis, before finding the opportunity to visit its physical location.
The restaurant, located right next to the famous Yongkang Street in Da’an, is actually split in two, with duplicate locations right across the street from each other. It’s a bit strange, but we’re not complaining about the additional seating space!
The inside is very simple, designed for high capacity, efficiency, and turnover. You can see that it gets busy on weekend afternoons — we had to wait about 15 minutes for a table.
The Stir-Fried Beef with Rice Vermicelli ($120) is topped with cucumbers, lettuce, basil, and peanuts. It’s light, fresh, and served with a tasty, somewhat spicy sauce that we absolutely love. This is our favourite dish that we’ve tried at Thanh-ky and it’s very reasonably priced — we highly recommend it!
The Deep-Fried Spring Rolls ($180) aren’t the healthiest option on the menu, but they’re undeniably delicious. They’re crispy, flavourful, and served with a sweet and tangy sauce. We can’t resist ordering these.
The Signature Beef Pho ($210) has a light broth and tender chunks of beef. We agree that this dish is decent, but we’ve had better, more flavourful pho in Taipei (especially at District One). It’s not a bad option, but don’t expect anything outstanding.

What’s the vibe?
Simple restaurant occupying 2 spaces across the street from each other. Use the menu with pictures and English translations to help mark your order on the paper, Chinese menu. This restaurant is neither fancy nor dirt cheap, so expect something in the middle.
Worth it?
Yes! This isn’t the highest quality Vietnamese food, but we think there are some really tasty dishes at very reasonable prices (especially the stir-fried beef with vermicelli).
Would you go back?
We order from this place on Uber Eats very often!
