Health-Conscious Food and Desserts at Tamed Fox

Just a short walk from Xinyi Anhe station is a sleek restaurant and cafe offering healthy alternatives to street food and bubble milk tea in Taipei. Tamed Fox is a health-conscious restaurant run by a dietician, serving light, fresh meals and drinks in a nice atmosphere.

We visited on a weekday for lunch and the restaurant was mostly empty. Apparently it does get packed though – Tamed Fox enforces a time limit of 2 hours when the place is full, and there’s a required minimum order of 1 drink per person.

It’s got a modern, clean interior with bright tones and lots of open space.

They have a simple English menu with drawings. Our waitress spoke English, making for easy ordering.

The Homemade Ricotta Smoked Salmon Sandwich (NT$280) was absolutely delicious. It was light and fluffy yet full of flavour.

The Baked Chicken with Mint Rosemary and Scallion Sauce Rainbowl (NT$330) was another great option. It was packed full of vitamins, and both the juicy chicken and crunchy vegetables were prepared well.

The Turmeric Nut Milk Latte (NT$160) was a bit strange. The turmeric wasn’t fully dissolved so the drink was slightly powdery. This was more of a novelty and is only recommended for serious turmeric enthusiasts.

When you order a donut with a drink, they stick it on top for the sake of Instagram.

The donuts are advertised as healthy, with less sugar and fat than your typical dessert. We got one of each of their flavours, the chocolate with camo frosting and carrot cake with pink frosting for a total of NT$160.

They weren’t bad tasting, but they were a bit dry and of course not as good as your usual sugary-fatty donut. They’re worth trying if you’re really looking for something sweet with less guilt.

What’s the vibe?

Sleek and bright restaurant with gentle vibes and friendly staff.

Worth it?

Yes! Although it wasn’t cheap, our meal was healthy, filling, and delicious. We definitely recommend the main courses, but the drinks and desserts were just so-so.

Would you go back?

For sure – we’d be happy to try some of their other appealing dishes and would also be willing to give some of their other desserts a shot. Tamed Fox isn’t cheap, but at least the health factor reduces guilt!
