Insane Happy Hour Deals at Redpoint Taproom

Redpoint Brewing Co. was founded by two American brewers who dove into the island’s burgeoning craft beer industry along with a dozen other microbreweries when the market exploded a few years ago. They produce a great selection of standard and seasonal beers, all available to try at their modern taproom located directly between Da’an and Technology Building MRT stations.

Their beers alone are worth going for, but what really caught our attention were the crazy deals on draft pints early in the evening!

We happened to be walking past Redpoint Taproom just after it opened at 5pm on a Sunday evening and decided to pop in for a beer. It was nearly empty at the time but gets much busier later in the evenings.

The taproom is spacious and modern, with plenty of tables and seats at the bar. It’s got seductive red neon lights crisscrossing the ceiling and walls covered in empty Redpoint bottles.

Redpoint Brewing Co. produces a number of beers, including its Long Dong Lager (a light, American-style lager), 台.P.A. or Tai-PA (an Indian pale ale), Disco Macaw (a “juicy” pale ale), and Rock Monkey Stout (a rich, hoppy stout). They also brew seasonal ales like Das Pumpkin, well-suited for autumn, and Cherry Stuffed IPA, perfect for summer.

The taproom has a rotating selection of guest beers on tap, from popular local brands like Taihu and 23 Brewing.

Our timing was fortunate because 5 – 6pm is Redpoint Hour, which has even cheaper deals than the Happy Hour that follows. We tried the Long Dong Lager for only NT$90 (regularly NT$180), the 台.P.A. for NT$100 (regularly NT$190), and the Das Pumpkin for NT$100 (also regularly NT$190).

The lager was light and crisp, the IPA was strong and hoppy, and the pumpkin ale had the perfect hint of pumpkin pie flavour. We loved all of them — especially at 1/2 price.
