Mom’s Pies: American Style Dessert in Neihu

Taipei has endless options for local and international desserts, but pies are hard to come by. This was a bit of a problem considering they’re one of our favourite treats!

Luckily we stumbled upon this low-key dessert spot that serves American style pies. Located a short walk from Wende MRT station in Neihu, Mom’s Pies is worth visiting to satisfy your sweet tooth. You can even place an order and retrieve your pie from one of their pickup locations spread across the city!

Pictured here are the flavours that were available when we visited Mom’s Pies on a Saturday afternoon in November: cherry, raspberry, lemon aloe vera, and cranberry. Each slice ranged in price from NT$45 – NT$55.

The lemon aloe vera was interesting, but not our favourite. The fruit filling on the other 3 were perfect (and raspberry was the big winner). These slices also had a layer of cheese filling below the fruit (and a topping of macadamia nuts on the cranberry) – not exactly authentic in our book, but tasty nonetheless.

Unfortunately these were the only flavours available at the time – we recommend ordering in advance if there’s a specific pie you’re craving!

A couple weeks later, we did just that, and ordered 2 pies for pickup with the help of our Taiwanese friend. Thankfully we didn’t have to go all the way to Neihu to retrieve them, as there are multiple pickup locations around the city. We got ours in Da’an from this table on the side of the road, which was also selling individual slices.

Find information on pickup locations on their website.

The pecan and pumpkin pies were incredible. Although they were pricey, costing us NT$860 altogether, they were everything we hoped for. We challenge you to find a more authentic and delicious pie in Taipei.

What’s the vibe?

Low-key dessert counter displaying available pie slices, with basic seating to enjoy your treat.

Worth it?

Yes.

The slices were thick and delicious. Even though they weren’t all exactly authentic, the fruit fillings were on point and the pumpkin and pecan pies were phenomenal.

Would you go back?

Yes.

Although it’s a bit out of the way, Mom’s Pies will definitely be on our radar next time we’re in Neihu. We’ll also consider ordering for pickup when our cravings get the better of us.
