Limitless Escape Room

Escape rooms have seen a huge surge in popularity around the world in recent years, and Taiwan is no exception to the phenomenon. Limitless Escape Room, located near Gongguan station in Zhongzheng, is one of the best-known and highest-rated escape rooms in Taipei (currently boasting 4.9 stars on Google) for good reason — it’s run by a passionate and professional team dedicated to creating engaging experiences for both local and foreign players (yes, they speak English). Having played escape room games in other countries, we were excited to see how Limitless measured up — and we ended up having a blast! We highly recommend their games as a fun entertainment alternative on rainy days.

We made a reservation to play an escape game at Limitless on a Saturday afternoon with a group of 6 people (you must make a reservation ahead of time!). It cost $500 per person. When we arrived, we were seated in the waiting area while the group before us finished up. We were briefed by one of the very friendly owners, who explained the rules in perfect, native English. We then had a final chance to use the bathroom and stash our belongings before heading inside.

Limitless works in the same way most other escape rooms do: you’re locked inside a room and need to play through a story by working together with your team to solve puzzles until you can eventually escape. They currently offer two different escape room games: The Warrant (thriller detective themed, 3 – 6 players, difficulty 3/5) and Prison Break (co-op jail break themed, 3 – 7 players, difficulty 4/5). We tried The Warrant, which had serious horror vibes with sinister puzzles that require both logic and creativity to solve. After the 20 minute briefing, we were given an hour to escape from the dimly lit room.

We won’t go into any details about the actual storyline or puzzles, but we loved how imaginative and engaging they were. Our group had a really fun time working together through some challenging and, at some points, frightening story elements. We celebrated in triumph any time we figured out one of the steps on our own, but we did get stuck a couple of times. Thankfully the owner was always at the other end of a walkie-talkie, and he offered his support any time we were really stumped.

We didn’t manage to beat the hour time limit in the end, but the owner was nice enough to give us an extension and extra support. He then gave us a full debriefing afterwards so we could discuss the highlights. You can take a photo with your group displaying the amount of time it took you to escape (like another group that played the Prison Break game above).

Overall, we highly recommend Limitless Escape Room as a fun and social rainy day activity. Our game was engaging, challenging, and frightening at times, but we had a lot of laughs. We really appreciated how professional everything was set-up and run — we’re looking forward to another visit so that we can try their other game!

What’s the vibe?

Engaging escape room games with high-quality set-ups and puzzles. The English-speaking owners are friendly and supportive. Everything is completely bilingual.

Worth it?

Yes! $500 is a reasonable price to pay for a fun and engaging game with friends. Although we got stumped a number of times and needed assistance, we had a great afternoon full of frights and laughter.

Would you go back?

Absolutely! We still need to try the other game.
