Brunch at Jie Genge Sandwich Cafe
Just a short walk from Da’an Forest Park lies a popular cafe that specializes in creative, high quality sandwiches and smoothies. Jie Genge is a great brunch spot for enjoying rich flavours in a warm atmosphere.
While the smoothies are advertised as dessert with options like apple pie, tiramisu, and caramel pudding, we were craving some sweetness when we arrived for Saturday brunch. These fruit smoothies topped with crumbled digestive biscuits and pumpkin seeds were the perfect appetizer.
The sandwich options were diverse, with ingredients like apple sausage, rosemary, and caramelized onions to add punches of flavour. We wanted to try all of them, but in the end settled for the pork tenderlion with maple fig jam (NT$280), chicken breast with spicy tomato sauce and tapenade (NT$280) and the real winner: fried soft shell crab with lemon dill sour cream and egg (NT$320).
Though the others didn’t disappoint, we cannot recommend this delightful sandwich enough. The succulent crab was perfectly complemented by the lemon and dill sour cream, making for a juicy and delectable meal. It also paired nicely with the herby and wholesome lei tea latte, just one of the unique drinks on a menu full of tempting choices.
We sat inside to savour the air conditioning and watch as our sandwiches were freshly prepared by an attentive staff, but there is also a nice outdoor patio that would be perfect space in cooler temperatures. We can’t wait to try it out when the weather’s nice and enjoy another delicious brunch in the sunshine.
What’s the vibe?

Worth it?
Yes.
Although the sandwiches are on the pricier side (NT$280 – NT$320), the quality and taste make them worth the cost. Jie Genge has a nice vibe and a diverse, creative menu that is worth exploring.
Would you go back?
Yes.
There are plenty of delicious-looking options and we want to go back to try more of them!
