[CLOSED] Enjoy IKEA Meatballs Without Spending a Fortune on Furniture

Believe it or not, there’s a standalone IKEA Cafe that serves all your favourite Swedish cafeteria foods, minus the obstacle of a massive furniture warehouse. IKEA House was built for those of us who love their meatballs but hate battling crowds of frantic shoppers wielding large boxes to get them.

Located next to Huashan 1914 Creative Park, IKEA House is a chilled-out 4-storey cafe serving the franchise’s signature dishes. It’s also stocked full of some of IKEA’s most popular smaller items, making it easy to pick up jars and candles without navigating a maze of showrooms.

Place your orders on the bottom floor, and then carry your tray upstairs to the second level for more seating.

We went for some of the classics:

This creamy and comforting bowl of corn soup was only NT$50.

A jar of signature lingonberry juice was also NT$50.

The classic Swedish meatballs were served in a pool of gravy with mashed potatoes and delightful cranberry sauce.

You can get 10 or 15 meatballs for NT$120 and NT$160 respectively.

The desserts were oh so tempting, but we resisted!

They’ve also got self-serve candy trays for mix-and-matching.

Shelves are stocked full of smaller IKEA essentials, including kitchenwares, snacks, and decorations. These seriously come in handy if you’re looking for a couple specific items but don’t want to enter the crowded maze of the full store.

They’ve also got showrooms on the upper floors if you’re looking for home decor inspiration after eating. But if you want to buy any furniture, you’ll have to head to the real IKEA outlet near Taipei Arena.

What’s the vibe?

Laid back cafe with 4 stories. Order at the counter on the bottom floor and take your tray up to the second floor where there’s plenty of seating. The top 2 levels are showrooms where you can browse. There are also plenty of shelves stocked full of smaller IKEA essentials.

Worth it?

Yes.

There are plenty of food options available at affordable prices, the cafe is a lot calmer than the craziness of the cafeteria in the big IKEA stores, and there are plenty of specialty items available for purchase.

Would you go back?

Yes.
