Gusto Market of Taste: Authentic Italian Meat and Cheese Deli

There’s a piece of Italy tucked away on an unassuming street near Addiction Aquatic Development. Gusto Market of Taste brings quality European cheeses, meats, and more to Taipei. This market/deli also has pasta and risotto lunches on weekends and hosts a dinner party at the end of each month.

Gusto sells some of the best imported cheeses and meats in the city at affordable prices. It’s worth making the trip if you’re hungry for a taste of Italy.

Gusto started out as a street stand, but Italian owner William Di Nardo soon expanded into a storefront to meet increased demand. The store now stocks a variety of imported bottled and canned goods and a selection of Italian wines, in addition to its fresh meats and cheeses.

We were transported to Europe on a Sunday afternoon when we sampled some of the delicious offerings.

We began our taste adventure with a couple of spritzers. They were nicely balanced and left us buzzing.

These marinated olives whet our appetites.

Gusto offers a large selection of fresh and aged cheeses, all available to sample. We tasted them with a dab of truffle honey, which was so delectable we had to buy a small jar.

The cured meats and cold cuts tasted like they were straight from a European deli.

We sampled lard atop fresh baguette drizzled with olive oil. SO. GOOD.

Though Gusto is mainly a market and deli selling cheese, charcuterie, and wine on weekdays, it’s open for lunch every Saturday and Sunday from 11am – 2pm. Chef William cooks either risotto or pasta and serves it alongside antipasti and aperitivo. It’s a good idea to book a meal ahead of time to be sure of availability.

On the last Saturday of each month Gusto hosts a mingle party. Included with the NT$1000 entrance fee are 3 glasses of wine, cheese, cold cuts, Italian sausage, risotto, pasta, and more. There are limited seats so make sure to reserve far in advance using the contact information below!

What’s the vibe?

Brightly lit storefront with stocked shelves, a deli counter, and a small seating area. The friendly owner William is passionate about bringing authentic Italian eats to Taipei, and he’s always happy to chat.

Worth it?

Absolutely — the imported products are some of the best you’ll find in the city, and the prices are reasonable. After tasting a variety of cheeses, we were so impressed we ended up purchasing much more than anticipated!

Would you go back?

We’re looking forward to trying some of Gusto’s lunchtime pasta specials!

Hi Alan, thanks for your feedback! We were excited about the food after visiting and had no intention of writing a biased piece of poetry, but we’ll take your concerns into consideration in the future.

If you’d like more information about specific produce, we suggest contacting Gusto directly (since items and availability change often) using the contact info we provided. Even better, visit in person so you can taste the cheeses – and let us know what you think!
