Excellent Views of Taipei 101 at the Beautiful Fuzhoushan Park

Taipei is no stranger to pretty parks (check out Shuanxi Park, one of our favourites), but once in a while, we’ll discover one that really blows us out the water. Fuzhoushan Park is a great example of this: we had never heard of it until one of our reader’s recommended it to us on Facebook, and boy are we glad that they did!

Located a little out of the way near Linguang MRT Station on the brown line, Fuzhoushan Park is the perfect spot for a bit of light hiking or a picnic, as it offers fantastic views of the Taipei 101. Just be warned — you have to bring your own drinks, as there is no drinking water available. We also strongly urge you to douse yourself in bug spray, as the mosquitos get pretty fierce here. Public bathrooms are available and are clearly marked on a map.

Fuzhoushan Park has a few different entrances, but no matter where you start off from, you will have to climb. It’s not too intense, but there are lots of stairs! We loved all the beautiful flowers and tropical flowers lining the plants — it was an immediate respite from the grey city down below and gave the climb up a fun, jungle-like vibe. The entrance closest to the brown line is about a seven-minute walk from Linguang MRT Station, and if you plan on returning the same way it’s best to pay careful attention to which entrance you exit from, as it can be a bit of a pain to skirt the park once you’re on the road.

There are three viewing platforms at Fuzhoushan Park. They each have a picnic area with a few benches. The first observation area has this beautiful view of Taipei 101 through a clearing in the trees and is a very popular photo spot. We had to line up for ours, but it was worth it!

The second observation area is less than a five-minute walk from the first, but with a rather disappointing view, that is obscured by some bushes and tall grass. This photo was taken from a bench, and you can see even less if you’re you’re not standing on it. The grassy area is nice for sitting on, but otherwise, we don’t recommend you spend much time here.

The third observation area probably nicest, with its sweeping, panoramic views of Taipei. There were also lots of people taking photos here, but there was enough space for everyone. We were very impressed by this view — who knew we could see something like this without climbing a mountain?

All in all, we were very impressed by Fuzhoushan Park. Not only was it a beautiful, breezy spot with lots of pretty flowers and plants, but it had fantastic views of Taipei to offer, which we quickly took advantage of by snapping a million photos. We were pretty surprised that, even on a weekend, there weren’t too many people around — just some older hikers, dog walkers, and families. It’s crazy to think that this park isn’t on everyone’s radar! We would definitely return here for picnics, a date, or a spot of gentle walking.

What’s the vibe?

Surprisingly quiet and very green, gorgeous park with awesome views of Taipei. Expect to see families, dog walkers, and older people exercising.

Worth it?

Definitely! This would be an awesome place for a picnic, stroll, or date. We don’t recommend doing it instead of one of the Four Beasts  Mountains because we personally find the view from there to be nicer (and Tiger Mountain is just as easy to climb), but it’s still a great outing.

Would you go back?

Absolutely!
