EGGY: Australian-Inspired Brunch That Doesn’t Disappoint

In the ritzy Minsheng Community of Songshan, there’s a laid-back brunch restaurant catching eyes with its bright yellow sign and leafy exterior. EGGY prides itself on its delicious and approachable menu of Australian-inspired tastes. It’s a solid choice for a satisfying brunch.

We visited at 10am on a Saturday morning in May and found the restaurant very quiet, yet a lot of the tables were reserved and the place started filling up the longer we stayed. We’d heard that you need a reservation for brunch and we believe it!

EGGY has minimalist appeal, with woody tones and hanging plants. The high quality images in the menu were a nice touch.

Here’s what we ordered:

The iced black coffee (NT$90) and the iced latte (NT$110) were both solid.

The Avocado Mash on Sourdough with sundried tomatoes and three different cheeses cost NT$270. It was simple but tasted great nonetheless. It was also very easy to share thanks to the fact that it was divided on 2 slices of bread.

The Roasted Denmark Pork and Wienerbrod egg meal (NT$260) came with ginger nuts, blueberry, and caramelized apple sauce. It seemed like a mishmash of ingredients so we decided to give it a try and were not disappointed! The flavours were great and complemented each other well.

The Blueberry Ricotta Hotcake (NT$200) was sprinkled with coconut flakes, berries, seeds, and greens. It also had a big scoop of ice cream sitting on top. We doubted whether the taste would measure up to the looks, but we were pleasantly surprised – it was the perfect brunch dessert.

What’s the vibe?

Quiet spot with minimalist appeal. The atmosphere was very muted on the Saturday morning we visited.

Worth it?

Yes.

Everything we tried matched or exceeded expectations, and many of the tastes impressed us. Though the vibe was so-so, the meal was very enjoyable and the prices were reasonable. We especially appreciated the fact that all of the dishes were easy to share between two people.

Would you go back?

Yes.

This is one quality brunch among many in Taipei, but there are other dishes on the menu we’d love to try! If you do decide to go, make sure to snag a reservation in advance.
