Get Your Christmas Instagram Photo at the Banqiao Light Tunnels

Once again, New Taipei City is going all-in for the holidays with their Christmasland festival in Banqiao. While there are plenty of things to do and see (check out the official website for a full breakdown) one of the main attractions is the lights. Multiple “dreamlike” overpasses attract hordes of photographers trying to get that perfect portrait-mode shot.

The light tunnels are popular with every demographic, but none more so than aspiring Instagram influencers clutching their boyfriends and selfie sticks. While the crowds can be overwhelming, the tunnels are certainly a spectacle and could be worth braving for a top-notch Christmas selfie.

Check them out:

The “Blue Light Star Bridge” exiting Banqiao MRT Station is the ugly stepsister of the bunch, with limited lighting and not much appeal.

The “Golden Star Bridge” is an interesting one because the colours can appear different depending on your camera. It’s a bright and popular choice.

If you take yourself really seriously, you could even hire a professional photographer and a ladder to capture the portrait shot of the year! The “Pink Star Bridge” is packed tight with hand-in-hand couples on romantic strolls.

Finally, the “Galaxy Star Bridge” is another insanely popular choice with cool lighting perfectly suited for winter.

All of 4 of these overpasses (and many more lighted areas not pictured in this article) are located around Banqiao Station in New Taipei City. Find more information, including opening hours,ย here.

What’s the vibe?

Crowded light tunnels with a few million people taking photos for Instagram.

Worth it?

If you can handle the crowds, you might get that perfect shot!

Would you go back?

Now that we have our photos, there’s no need.
