TourMeAway: Free & Paid Walking Tours of Taipei in English

Introducing the best way to see Taipei: TourMeAway. They offer walking tours every day of the week, rain or shine, along key routes in the city. We’ve personally attended three different tours and can’t recommend them enough; they’re both informative (we’ve learned a lot, even though we already live here) and entertaining (we’ve made new friends and had a lot of fun along the way). Best of all, most of the tours are free!

What better way to explore and learn about Taipei? The tours are especially recommended for visitors, but they’re also worthwhile for people already living here (as we can attest).

Check out their schedule and tours below:

Daily Free Walking Tours

These informative tours take you right into the heart of the city to check out some of Taipei’s must-see attractions. They’re free of charge — all you need to do is book the tour in advance, show up, and follow along! Guides accept donations at the end.

Old Town Taipei Tour: hit a series of classic landmarks, including 228 Peace Memorial Hall, the Presidential Offices, and the Ximen Red House. The tour runs Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays at 2pm.

Taipei Chill Out Tour: explore some of the chillest areas of the city, including Da’an Park, a teahouse, an antique market, Yongkan Food Street, and Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall. The tour runs Thursdays and Sundays at 2pm. Read our full review here.

Longshan Temple Tour: venture into Taipei’s oldest district, learn how to worship at the famous Longshan Temple, and eat traditional dishes at Huaxi Night Market. Tours run Tuesdays and Fridays at 7:30pm.

Nightlife

These are paid tours, but they’re worth the money. In addition to all of the food or drinks included in the charge, you get a fun night out with other enthusiastic travellers.

Hunger Game: taste a wide selection of Taiwanese street food staples at Jingmei Night Market. Challenge yourself to try all of the more “adventurous” foods on offer! Tours run Wednesdays and Sundays at 8pm and cost $500 with advance booking. Read our full review here.

Taipei Pub Crawl: acquaint yourself with the Taipei drinking scene by visiting an assortment of bars and sampling various Taiwanese alcohols. Then party the night away with your new crew at Triangle, one of the most popular expat clubs in the city! Tours run Thursdays and Saturdays at 8pm and cost $700 with advance booking. Read our full review here.

By Request

These tours are private and must be booked far in advance. They’re higher in cost, but offer flexibility and a personalized experience.

Vintage Taipei Tour: meander through one of Taipei’s most well-preserved traditional neighbourhoods: Da Dao Cheng. Visit a market, temple, the historic Dihua Street, and more.

Zen Tour: escape the city on a full day trip that includes a hike in the mountains, a visit to the grandest waterfall in Taiwan, and a sky lantern send-off in the town of ShiFen. You must register at least 3 days in advance with a group of 2 – 12 people.

Private Tour: if any of the walking tours don’t fit your schedule, you can book an exclusive and personalized tour to fit your own hours.
